$70k for Having a Crack

The past week we’ve seen another outrageous startup story unfold, providing a timely reminder to have a crack at the crazy business ideas you come up with.

Spitefully inspired website ShipYourEnemiesGlitter.com allows users to purchase an envelope filled with glitter that is sent to one of their enemies. Crazy idea. But it worked.

The sensibly named site got a gargantuan 2.5 million visits in just four days following its launch, gathering $20,000 worth of orders in the process.


“Glitter as a Service: want to piss off someone you dislike for only $9.99? Let us send them some stupid f*%^ing glitter that is guaranteed to go everywhere.”

 The Sales Pitch

It came about on the back of founder Mathew Carpenter’s New Year resolution to work on more side projects. This little doozy just happened to be the first idea he came up with.

But far from taking his ridiculous website too seriously, Carpenter decided to put the site up for sale just 24 hours after it was launched.

The price tag?

$70,100, and counting.

ShipYourEnemiesGlitter.com is currently under the hammer on business auction site Flippa.com, where it has attracted 333 bids after being first posted for the princely sum of $1.

All that for a hare-brained idea.

So, next time you cook up a kooky business plan or get rich quick scheme, have a crack. It might be the easiest money you ever make.
